Police charge woman over role in shooting at Sutherland

A woman will appear in court today charged in relation to her alleged role in a shooting at Lucas Heights earlier this year.

In March, detectives from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command formed Strike Force Kiewarra to investigate shootings across the Sutherland area.

Just before 4am on Sunday 29 March 2020, emergency services were called to bushland off Heathcote Road at Lucas Heights, following reports of a 30-year-old man had suffered gunshot wounds to his legs.

He was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

During the investigation, strike force investigators linked this incident to public place shootings at Bexley on the same date and at a Caringbah unit complex on Wednesday 1 April 2020.

Following extensive inquiries, two men, aged 29 and 30, were charged and remain before the courts

Following further inquiries, a 22-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Gloucester Street, The Rocks, just after midnight (Monday 8 June 2020).

She was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with accessory before the fact to discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that the woman took part in the planning of the shooting of a 30-year-old man at Lucas Heights.

The Sutherland woman was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Monday 9 June 2020).
