Police: Direct to Court Without Signature

An Auckland woman has express delivered herself to court on a variety of charges after allegedly stealing a delivery vehicle.

Police responded to the van being stolen from outside a Waterview address just before 4.30pm on Tuesday.

"The van had only just stopped outside an address when the opportunistic offender jumped in and drove away," Inspector Wayne Kitcher, Auckland City West Police, says.

"A unit has located the van on Tuarangi Road in Grey Lynn a short time later and stopped it."

Police arrested the 28-year-old woman.

At some point the van has been involved in a collision and sustained damage, Inspector Kitcher says.

"It's lucky for the public that the woman's actions didn't result in anyone being hurt."

The woman will appear today in the Auckland District Court.

She has been charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and possession of GHB.
