Police execute warrants by Echo Taskforce as part of firearms investigation

Detectives from the Echo Taskforce have arrested a man and executed warrants across a number of suburbs in Melbourne's south east and outskirts this morning as part of a firearms investigation.

The warrants were executed at residential properties in Clyde North, Nar Nar Goon, Narre Warren and Tetoora Road.

A 29-year-old Clyde North man was arrested at the Clyde North address.

He is being interviewed by police and will be charged with prohibited person use firearm and prohibited person possess firearm.

The man was also subject to a current Firearm Prohibition Order and was charged with possess and use firearm contrary to Firearm Prohibition Order and enter or remain on premises with a firearm stored in contravention of a Firearm Prohibition Order relating to the breach of that order.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

Police also seized seven firearms and ammunition from the Tetoora Road address.

A 32-year-old man from that address has been interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with firearms offences.

Today's arrests follow an investigation by the Echo Taskforce into a number of alleged firearms offences linked to the Finks Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang.

This included footage of the man charged today allegedly discharging an assault rifle.
