Police are investigating following an armed robbery in Golden Point, Ballarat this morning.
Investigators have been told a woman was opening a retail store in Clayton Street just after 8.30am when she was approached a balaclava clad man armed with a boxcutter.
The man held the woman down on the ground and demanded cash and keys to her car.
The man, wearing all black clothing, stole items from her car before fleeing west along Clayton Street where he crossed a footbridge over Canadian Creek.
The woman aged in her 40s, sustained bruising and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
