Police investigate alcohol theft at Essendon Fields

Moonee Ponds police are investigating after four people entered an Essendon Fields supermarket and stole several bottles of alcohol during the week.

The incident happened at the English Street store on Tuesday 16 July at 12.30pm.

Police have been told that four people, a man and three women entered the food section of the supermarket and selected a number of items which they placed in their trolley.

They then moved to the alcohol section of the store where they selected three bottles of vodka and two bottles of bourbon.

They originally placed the alcohol in the trolley but CCTV footage shows the four gathering around the trolley and then the alcohol is no longer visible.

Investigators believe that the four hid the alcohol under their clothing or in bags they were carrying.

They then paid for the food items in their trolley and left without paying for the alcohol which was valued at $258.

Police have released images of four people who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
