Police investigate assault in Lilydale

Lilydale police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted at a carpark in Lilydale on 31 July.

Police have been told a man driving a dark-coloured Mazda MX-5 was involved in an altercation with another driver in the underground carpark on Hutchinson Street just before 10am.

The driver of the Mazda assaulted a 71-year-old man, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim required surgery for facial injuries he received in the attack

The offender then returned to his car and drove away.

He is perceived to be Caucasian, aged 40 to 50-years-old, 175cm tall, unshaven with short grey hair and was wearing a multi-coloured jacket and blue jeans.

Investigators have released an image of the car in the hope someone recognises it.
