Police are keen to speak to an English/Irish backpacker who may have witnessed an assault in Melbourne in the early hours of 22 December, Victoria Police say.
It is believed the male backpacker got into a black Amarok 4WD ute in St Kilda sometime between 3am-5am.
He was driven around the city for a short time before an assault occurred between two other occupants.
Police are urging this backpacker to contact them as they believe he can assist with their enquiries.
A 30-year-old Fairfield man has since been arrested on assault-related charges and remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
Police are urging the backpacker or anyone who has information on his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers.
