Police are investigating following an assault of a taxi driver earlier today (29 August), Victoria Police say.
The driver attended a Lydiard Street address in Ballarat to pick up a fare where he was met by an unknown man about 1.20am
This man, as well as two people not known to him, shared the taxi until being dropped off at a separate Ballarat address.
The man then requested to be taken to Sebastopol.
During this time a verbal altercation has occurred between the man and taxi driver.
The man has then pulled a camera from the windscreen and also stolen a quantity of cash from the driver before assaulting him.
The man is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, with a solid build and light coloured hair.
He was wearing a dark coloured shirt and glasses. It is believed the man has a tattoo on his chest or collarbone area.
