Police investigate Coleraine and Casterton burglaries

Hamilton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating two burglaries which occurred early on Monday morning (25 February).

The first incident happened in Casterton about 4.45am.

Unknown offenders entered the Henty Street store and stole money, tools and other items.

Investigators believe they fled the scene in a black Mercedes GLC or GLE SUV with registration 1FB2QO.

It is alleged this vehicle was fitted with number plates stolen about 3am that morning from Kennedy Street, Hamilton.

The second incident occurred at Coleraine about 5.30am when two unknown offenders entered a Whyte Street business and stole a number of chainsaws worth a significant amount of money.

It is believed the offenders fled the scene in the same vehicle.

No one was injured during either incident and investigators believe the two burglaries are linked.

Investigators have released images of the vehicle and two people who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
