Police are investigating a unit fire in Heidelberg Heights this morning.
Emergency services attended the unoccupied property on Southern Road, following reports of a large amount of smoke, about 2am.
No one was inside the unit at the time but the property sustained some damages.
Residents were temporarily evacuated from the adjoining units, with concerns the fire would spread.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined however, the blaze is being treated as suspicious.
An arson chemist will attend the scene later today.
