Police investigate ram raid on Numurkah supermarket

Cobram Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a ram raid burglary on a local supermarket yesterday morning.

The burglary happened at the Melville Street supermarket when a man drove a stolen green Toyota Hilux utility into the front doors of the business just after 3am.

The man is then seen to get out of the utility, enter the store and use an angle grinder to open a security cabinet containing cigarettes.

The man grabbed numerous cartons of cigarettes before leaving the store and driving away.

The utility, which had been stolen from an address in Hurley Court in Numurkah, was later located on Naring Hall Road around 9.30am.

The man is described as having a solid build, wearing a high-visibility top and a dark-coloured beanie and face mask.

Investigators have released CCTV and still images of the man in the hope someone may recognise him.
