Police investigate school break and enter - Greystanes

Police have commenced investigations following an aggravated break and enter at a school yesterday.

About 6.15am (Thursday 11 July 2019), emergency services were called to a school on Cumberland Road, Greystanes, when smoke was observed coming from a building on the premises.

Police will allege that two males gained access to the library of the school by smashing a window about 4.20am. Once inside, they set alight several books and attempted to spread the fire.

The Grounds Assistant for the school notified emergency services and officers from Cumberland Police Area Command and the Fire and Rescue NSW attended where the fire was extinguished.

Cumberland Detectives established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No one was injured, and the school and the Department of Education are assisting police as inquiries continue.
