Police investigate serious assault at Maryborough

A 23-year-old Tinana South man has been charged following a serious assault incident in Maryborough overnight.

Just after 2.30am, officers were called to the intersection of Kent and Richmond Streets following reports of an altercation.

It will be alleged the man struck a 43-year-old Tinana man causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground.

He was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital before being transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear at Maryborough Magistrates Court on Monday, August 21.
