Police investigate serious assault at Mount Isa 18 November

Police are seeking public assistance following a serious assault that occurred in Mount Isa on November 5.

Around 11.50pm, a 23-year-old Pioneer woman and a 30-year-old Pioneer man were walking along Abel Smith Parade when they were approached by a group of unknown people on the median strip.

A verbal altercation ensued, with the group throwing items at the woman.

When the man intervened he was assaulted by members of the group.

He suffered from major facial injuries and was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

Police are wishing to speak to the occupants of a white dual cab utility and other pedestrians who may have briefly stopped to render assistance following the assault.

Investigators are urging anyone who has dash cam footage or may have witnessesed anything on Abel Smith Parade and Delacour Dr, Mount Isa on between 11:30pm Saturday November 5 and early hours of Sunday November 6 to contact police.
