Police investigate serious assault at Torrington

Police are investigating the serious assault of a woman at a Torrington address earlier today.

Just after 10am, it will be alleged an unknown man entered the address via the back yard and backdoor before grabbing a 26-year-old woman and repeatedly assaulting her, including attempting to strangle her.

Police were called to the address by another member of the household with officers locating the man in the woman's vehicle, which had been stolen from the address.

The woman was taken to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

A 36-year-old man is now assisting police with inquiries into the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
