Detectives from Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit are investigating a fire that occurred in Springvale this morning, Monday 29 November.
Investigators have been told the fire broke out in the rear garage at a property on Large Street 1.30am.
A 31-year-old woman and 5-year-old child who were inside the home at the time, escaped the house uninjured.
The fire was extinguished, and a number of cannabis plants were located inside the garage.
A crime scene has been established and Arson investigation will attend the scene in the morning to examine the scene.
The woman was arrested at the scene and she remains in custody.
