Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating a sexual assault at a St Kilda licenced venue on Fitzroy Street.
A 22-year-old female victim was on a dance floor with her friends when she was approached by an unknown male from behind about 10.30pm on 5 November.
The man sexually assaulted her before he was pulled away from the woman by others in the venue.
Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian, solid build, 180 cm tall, in his early 20's with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
