Banyule Nillumbik Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a suspicious factory fire in Heidelberg West this morning.
A flat-bed tow truck reversed into the premises on McEwan Road, before two unknown offenders set the building alight about 2am.
One offender is believed to have caught fire before the duo fled in the tow truck.
About 14 vehicles and a tow truck stored inside the business were completely destroyed in the fire.
A crime scene is in place and investigation into the incident is underway.
