Police investigating ATM skimming appeal for public assistance at Wollongong

Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate card skimming thefts at an ATM in Wollongong.

Between Friday 14 February 2020 and Saturday 29 February 2020, police believe a card skimming device was placed on an ATM at a venue on Corrimal Street, Wollongong.

Officers believe the card details of a number of ATM users were stolen from the ATM.

On Saturday 29 February, officers from Wollongong Police District were notified of suspected fraudulent activity at the ATM and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, investigators have been told up to $9000 dollars was stolen from a number of accounts during transactions at ATMs around Wollongong, between Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March 2020.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for assistance from the public in identifying three men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first man depicted is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with a large build, olive skin and a dark beard. He is shown wearing a dark cap and shorts, white t-shirt and grey joggers.

The second man depicted is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with a small build and olive skin. He is shown wearing a dark cap, blue long-sleeved shirt, and white joggers.

The third man depicted is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, with a medium build, olive skin and dark beard. He is shown wearing a striped t-shirt, denim shorts, grey cap and black joggers.
