Police Investigating Hit And Run, Coolangatta

Police are investigating a hit-and-run traffic crash in Coolangatta last night, January 10, which left two teenage girls seriously injured.

Just after 7pm, a white Mitsubishi Express van travelling west on Marine Parade collided with a DiroDi Rover Pro E-Bike travelling east in the bicycle lane on Marine Parade.

The driver of the van failed to remain at the scene and render assistance, continuing on Marine Parade before crossing the border into New South Wales (NSW).

The E-Bike rider and a passenger, both 15-year-old girls, were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

A short time later, the driver, a 40-year-old Urangan man, was arrested by NSW Police in Tweed Heads in relation to other matters.

Investigations into the traffic crash are ongoing.
