Police Involved Shooting, Arana Hills

A crime scene has been declared in Arana Hills following a police involved shooting this afternoon, 1 April.

Officers were initially called to an Akebia Street address for a welfare check.

Around 12.30pm, police were attempting to speak with an armed 19-year-old man at the address, when an altercation occurred and he was subsequently shot.

Officers provided first aid at the scene, before the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The matter will be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
