Police launch investigation into armed robbery - Ashmont

An investigation is underway following an armed robbery in the state's Riverina yesterday.

Police have been told a man entered a post office on Tobruk Street just before 7am (Thursday 13 April 2023), and threatened a worker with a firearm, before he fled with cash and cigarettes.

The male worker was uninjured and notified police.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District established a crime scene, which has been examined by specialist forensic police.

As inquiries continue under Strike Force Burdon, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.

He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a face mask and was carrying a backpack.
