A bushwalker has been located after being reported missing while bushwalking in the Olney State Forest, about 24km west of Morisset.
About 4.40am today (Wednesday 5 August 2026), emergency services were called to The Basin Campground following reports a man had failed to return to the campsite.
Police have been told that the 52-year-old man became separated from a family member while bushwalking last night and was unable to be located.
A command post was established at The Basin Campground, and a multi-agency coordinated land and air search commenced by Hunter Valley Police District, with the assistance of PolAir, Police Rescue, NSW SES, NSW Ambulance, NSW RFS, and VRA.
About 10.25am, the missing bushwalker was located by PolAir.
The bushwalker was winched up to the aircraft and flown to George Downes Drive at Bucketty where he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The man was treated for mild hypothermia, dehydration and abrasions, before being taken to Gosford Hospital for further assessment.
