Police lay arson charge, Frenchville

Rockhampton detectives have charged a man following investigations into a fire at Frenchville overnight.

Police will allege the man made threats and was seen leaving on foot just prior to the house catching fire.

Emergency services arrived at the scene around 6.20pm.

The man was arrested in nearby Waterloo Street shortly afterwards. He was taken to hospital.

A 51-year-old Frenchville man has been charged with arson. He is expected to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
