Police Lay Assault Charges At Rockhampton 2 April

Police have charged a man following an assault in Rockhampton on 22 March.

It will be alleged around 1.15am, an 18-year-old man was walking along Cambridge Street in the company of his friends when unknown people have approached the group and acted in a threatening manner.

It will further be alleged the 18-year-old man fled to the yard of a Cambridge Street address followed by a man, before being struck multiple times to the head.

The 18-year-old man received medical treatment for injuries he sustained.

A 17-year-old boy also sustained injuries and received medical treatment the following day.

Following investigations, detectives arrested a 40-year-old man from The Range on 2 April.

He has been charged with two counts of common assault, one count of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed, and a further count of assaults occasioning bodily harm while in company of another person.

He is due to appear at Rockhampton Magistrates Court on 29 April.
