Police lay charges after aggravated burglary spree

Police have charged three teenagers following a series of aggravated burglaries throughout the eastern and south eastern suburbs earlier this week.

Detectives from the Southern Metro Crime Team today executed two warrants at addresses in Frankston, seizing items linking those arrested with a series.

The aggravated burglaries occurred in Glen Iris, Toorak, Camberwell, Malvern, Mount Martha and Mount Eliza.

A 21-year-old Frankston man has been charged with 13 offences, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft of motor vehicles and theft.

An 18-year-old Frankston man has been charged with 18 offences, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, possessing a drug of dependence, theft of motor vehicles and traffic offences.

The two men have been held over to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.

A 17-year-old Frankston boy has been charged with 12 offences, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft, handle stolen goods, possess proceeds of crime and theft of motor vehicle.

He has been held over to appear at a children's court at a later date.

The charges relate to the arrest of three youths after police observed an allegedly stolen gold Mazda 3 travelling on Ferntree Gully Road, Scoresby about 10.50pm last night.

The police Air Wing followed the car across various south-eastern suburbs where the driver reached alleged speeds of 170km/h.

While travelling through the Oakleigh area, it's alleged a female occupant jumped from the stolen car and was arrested shortly after.

The stolen vehicle then travelled towards the CBD area where police successfully deployed stop sticks on Smithfield Road, Flemington, but the driver continued on.

The Mazda glanced a pedestrian on Elizabeth Street before crashing into a tram stop at the intersection of Victoria Street.

Two male offenders allegedly fled on foot but were arrested shortly after by the Critical Incident Response Team.

It is alleged the Mazda was stolen from an address in Tyabb last night.

The female occupant, a 19-year-old Ferntree Gully woman, has been charged with three offences, including theft, possessing prescription medications and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.

She has been held over to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates' Court later today.
