Police lay charges after brawl and assault - Bankstown PAC

Four people have been charged and another three teenagers have been cautioned following an investigation into two incidents in Sydney's south west this week.

About 3.30pm on Monday 30 January 2023, officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command were called to a shopping centre on North Terrace, Bankstown, following reports a group of people were involved in a brawl.

A 52-year-old woman sustained an injury to her lip during the incident. She was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment.

Detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

On Wednesday (1 February 2023), officers were called to Third Avenue at Condell Park about 3.30pm, following reports of an assault.

Attending police were told a 16-year-old boy had been confronted and allegedly assaulted by a group of teenagers after leaving a nearby school.

Police spoke to the boy before a family member took him to a doctor for treatment of minor injuries.

Subsequent inquiries established the incident was linked to a brawl in Bankstown earlier in the week.

Following inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Condell Park on Wednesday evening and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with common assault and affray.

The teenager was refused bail and appeared before a children's court yesterday (Thursday 2 February 2023).

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in Kingsgrove about 3.30pm yesterday and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and affray. He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 3 February 2023).

Further, a 16-year-old boy was issued a caution under the Young Offenders Act after attending Bankstown Police Station.

About 9am today, a 46-year-old woman was arrested at Bankstown Police Station, before being taken to Campsie Police Station where she was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday 2 March 2023.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at Bankstown Police Station just after 3pm today. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Saturday 4 February 2023).

Two teenage girls – aged 15 and 16 – were also issued cautions under the Young Offenders Act after attending Bankstown Police Station today.
