Police lay charges after Frankston affray

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a sergeant was injured following an affray in Frankston over the weekend.

The 44-year-old from Frankston has been charged with affray, assault police and resist arrest.

A 47-year-old Seaford man who was also arrested following the incident has been interviewed by detectives in relation to the affray and released, expected to be charged on summons.

The charges follow reports of an affray inside a Nepean Highway takeaway store on Saturday 26 August about 3am.

Attending police intervened and attempted to break-up the fight before one officer, who stepped in between two men fighting, was allegedly assaulted.

The Frankston man has been bailed to appear before Frankston Magistrates' Court on 5 December 2022.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the affray police are appealing for information and for witnesses to come forward after it's believed a number of other people involved in the fight along with nearby onlookers fled the scene when members arrived.

Anyone with information or anyone who filmed the incident on their phone is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.auExternal Link.
