Police lay charges after man deliberately hit with car at Coffs Harbour

A man will appear in court today charged after allegedly deliberately hitting a man with a car in Coffs Harbour.

About 10.45pm on Monday (5 April 2021), two men, aged 29 and 27, were involved in an altercation at a home on Bailey Avenue, Coffs Harbour, after the older man allegedly threw objects at the home, smashing the windows.

The older man then got in a Mazda parked in the driveway and allegedly drove towards the younger man, pinning him against a brick wall before driving off.

The 27-year0old man suffered injuries to his legs and was taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for surgery; he is reportedly in a stable condition.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, a 29-year-old man was arrested about 9.25am yesterday (Tuesday 6 April 2021) on Walter Morris Close, Coffs Harbour.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property, reckless wounding, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

The man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Wednesday 7 April 2021).
