Police lay charges after stabbing - Newcastle West

A man and woman have been charged following an investigation into an alleged stabbing at Newcastle earlier this year.

About 3.35am on Thursday 19 January 2023, emergency services were called to Devonshire Street, Newcastle West, where they found two men suffering stab wounds.

NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to the men, aged 25 and 28, before they were transported to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene, which was forensically examined by specialist police.

Following inquiries, an 18-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested at a property on Blue Gum Road, Jesmond, about 12.10am yesterday (Wednesday 1 March 2023).

They were both charged with two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess unauthorised pistol, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

Both were refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Thursday 2 March 2023).
