DTU Space Studies Head: Many Paths to Career

Technical University of Denmark

Sine Munk Hvidegaard's career is one of a kind because she has chosen her education and jobs based on her personal interests. Now she shares her experiences with the students she meets in her role as Head of Studies for the Bachelor of Science (BSc) programme in Earth and Space Physics and Engineering.

"I have a very atypical background for a Head of Studies at DTU. In fact, I'm not even an engineer. I studied physics at the University of Copenhagen and for many years thought I was going to be a meteorologist, but somehow, I ended up here," says Sine Munk Hvidegaard.

She continues:

"The recurring theme in my life is curiosity. I am a very curious person, and that is clearly why my career has taken the path it has. And there is no doubt that it is curiosity I want to inspire in my students."

Sine Munk Hvidegaard still teaches because connecting with students is very important to her.

"I'm one of the first lecturers the students meet when they start the study programme, and that's a conscious choice on my part. The sooner and better they get to know me, the easier it is for them to ask me for help if they need it," she explains.
