Police lay charges after wanted man extradited from Queensland - Organised Crime Squad

Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a man with an outstanding arrest warrant after he was escorted from Queensland to NSW by the Aviation Command yesterday afternoon.

Strike Force Jillabenan II was established by Organised Crime Squad detectives to locate a 33-year-old man, who was wanted for a breach of a bail and last seen at Bayview on Monday 25 October 2021.

The investigation was assisted by the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Australian Border Force, the NSW Crime Commission, and interstate police.

The man was arrested by Queensland Police on Wednesday (10 November 2021) and taken to Southport Watch House, where the warrant was executed.

Strike Force Jillabenan II detectives applied for and were granted the man's extradition to NSW at Southport Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday 11 November 2021).

The man was escorted by police to Coolangatta Airport, before being flown by PolAir6 – a Cessna Grand Caravan – to Bankstown Airport.

After arriving at Aviation Command, he was transferred into the custody of Corrective Services NSW and taken to Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre where he was charged with an outstanding arrest warrant.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 12 November 2021).
