Police lay charges - Aggravated assault - Nightcliff

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man for an alleged unlawful entry and aggravated assault earlier this year.

On 27 March 2022, a man confronted an intruder in his Nightcliff home. After an altercation, the left the property by diving through a louvered window, leaving behind an edged weapon and some DNA samples on the broken glass.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said, "Forensic testing and a good deal of detective work led to this unknown offender being identified and arrested this week.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful entry
  • Aggravated assault

At the time of writing bail is yet to be determined.

"General duties officers, forensics and detectives worked together to identify and arrest a previously unknown violent offender who entered an unsuspecting victim's house. Whatever it takes, we will catch them."
