Police lay charges - Aggravated assault - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for an aggravated assault which occurred on Tuesday 10 March 2020.

At about 10:50pm, the man allegedly assaulted a 42-year-old man in the Palmerston CBD. Another male and a female are believed to have been involved in the incident.

He was arrested by detectives from Serious Crime Squad yesterday.

The man was charged with:

  • unlawfully cause serious harm
  • engaging in violent conduct.

He is the second person to be charged in relation to the incident, after a 28-year-old woman was arrested on 19 March.

The woman was charged with:

  • aggravated assault
  • armed with offensive weapon
  • engaging in violent conduct.

Both were remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court via video link today.
