Police lay charges - Aggravated robbery at Virginia

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have charged a 29-year-old man after an alleged aggravated robbery at Virginia at 1:30pm on Wednesday 5 February.

The 24-year-old male victim was travelling as a passenger in a taxi when the offender used his vehicle to cut the taxi off. The offender entered the back seat of the taxi, assaulted the victim then demanded his wallet and phone. The victim was later treated for his injuries.

On Thursday 6 February, Serious Crime Squad and Territory Response Group officers executed a search warrant at a Humpty Doo address. The 29-year-old was arrested and taken to Palmerston Watch House where he was charged with one count of aggravated robbery. The man was denied bail and remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
