Police lay charges - Aggravated robbery in Darwin 7 July

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to an aggravated robbery in Parap this week.

Late on Wednesday night, a taxi service picked up three 16-year-old males from Wagaman before travelling towards Fannie Bay. The taxi stopped along East Point Road where one of the passengers allegedly threated the driver with an edged weapon. The driver fled the vehicle which was then driven off by the youth.

Police tracked the taxi to Vanderlin Drive where a tyre deflation device was deployed with all three youths fleeing the vehicle.

The trio were arrested by detectives from Strike Force Trident and the Dog Operations Unit yesterday. All three were later charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 2 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Attempt to commit an offence

One of the youths was additionally charged with driving unlicensed.

They were remanded to appear in court today.
