Police lay charges over drug offences in Darwin 6 December

Northern Territory Police have charged a 62-year-old man in relation to drug offences.

Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Section executed a search warrant in the Darwin CBD on Sunday 4 December 2022.

During the search, detectives seized a mobile phone and located a large amount of cash and 2 suitcases containing 22.68 kilograms of cannabis.

The man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with:

  • Supply Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug - Commercial Quantity
  • Possess Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug - Commercial Quantity
  • Receive Property - Commission of offence

He was remanded in custody to appear before the Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Barram said "NT Police will continue to target and disrupt those who attempt to supply and distribute illicit substances into the Territory."

"Anyone with information on the transportation of illicit substances into the Northern Territory is urged to contact police on 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
