Police lay charges over fatal pedestrian crash - Belrose

A man has been charged following a fatal pedestrian crash on the Northern Beaches this morning.

About 9.30am (Tuesday 17 December 2019), police and emergency services responded following reports a tipper truck had struck a 96-year-old woman on Opala Street, Belrose.

On arrival, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics took over.

Despite their efforts, the woman died at the scene.

The 53-year-old male truck driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Manly Police Station.

The Frenchs Forest man was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death) and not reverse vehicle safely.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 12 February 2020.
