Police lay charges – Stolen motor vehicle – Berrimah

The Serious Crime Squad has made its tenth arrest for the week.

An off-duty team member observed a vehicle of interest parked at Berrimah today. The vehicle had been reported stolen in May, and is believed to have been used in an aggravated robbery earlier this month.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said, “A coordinated response with Serious Crime Squad, Dog Operations Unit, Darwin Traffic Operations and Palmerston General Duties resulted in the arrest of the driver.

“A search of the vehicle located several stolen licence plates.”

A 31-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • Possess stolen property

At the time of writing, bail has not been determined.

“This has been a very busy week for the squad – thanks to the vigilance of an off-duty member, we effected our tenth arrest for serious offending this week.”
