Police lay robbery with violence charges at Sunnybank

Police have charged an 18-year-old Acacia Ridge man after two people were assaulted during an alleged robbery with violence in Sunnybank overnight, June 7.

It will be alleged just after 8.30pm, the man entered a Subaru Forester that was parked in a McCullough Street shopping centre carpark and started the vehicle.

The driver, a 23-year-old Inala woman, who was not inside the SUV at the time, attempted to stop the man from driving away when he allegedly slammed her hand in the car door.

A 39-year-old Stones Corner man who came to the woman's aid received serious injuries to his leg when the Subaru Forester allegedly reversed in to him.

Another bystander, who also assisted, was not physically injured.

The 18-year-old Acacia Ridge man was detained by members of the public until police arrived a short time later.

He was arrested and taken in to custody.

He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and driving unlicenced.

He is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates court today, June 8.
