Police make arrest after police car ramming in Shepparton

Police have arrested a man following a police car ramming in Shepparton today.

It's alleged a blue Ford Falcon sedan with false number plates was observed by patrolling officers on Wilmot Road just after midday.

A female passenger got out of the car and the male driver proceeded to drive into the police vehicle, reverse, then ram the vehicle again.

The offending vehicle took off at speed, travelling on the wrong side of the road on Goulburn Valley Highway, narrowly missing a truck.

The vehicle continued to be driven erratically before the driver lost control on River Road in Kialla.

The driver fled on foot but was arrested a short time later in nearby paddocks.

A 32-year-old Shepparton man is currently in police custody assisting with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the blue Ford sedan in the area or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
