Police make arrest after Springvale attempted armed rob

Two men have been arrested following an alleged attempted armed robbery in Springvale yesterday evening.

Investigators have been told a man was getting into his vehicle which was parked on Albert Avenue when another vehicle pulled up beside him about 11.50pm.

A man got out of the car and made demands for the victim's belongings before assaulting him with a knife.

The victim fled the scene on foot and called police.

Police conducted patrols of the area and intercepted a vehicle on Stud Road, Dandenong North about 1.20am.

A 30-year-old Rosedale man and a 51-year-old Dandenong North man were arrested and interviewed by police.

The Rosedale man has been charged with attempted armed robbery and theft from motor vehicle and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrate's Court.

The Dandenong North man was released and is expected to be charged on summons pending further enquiries.

These arrests are part of Operation Tidal which utilises a highly visible police presence across the Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia Police Service Areas (PSAs).

Tidal is an ongoing operation and police will continue to focus resources where they're most needed
