Police make arrest after woman failed to comply with direction

On Tuesday 20 July 2021, WA Police charged a 33-year-old woman after she allegedly failed to comply with self-quarantine requirements on several occasions.

The woman arrived in Perth on a flight from Cairns on Friday 16 July 2021 and received a Self-Quarantine Direction for 14 days at a specified hotel.

It is alleged checks by Operation Tide Compliance and Assurance officers identified the woman was not at the specified hotel and on several occasions had visited a nightclub, a licensed café and had gone shopping within the Perth CBD.

The woman returned a negative result for her 48 hour COVID test.

The 33-year-old woman who is a US national has been charged under the provisions of the Emergency Management Act, with:-

• Five counts of Failure to Comply with a Direction

She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 21 July 2021.
