Police make arrest - Aggravated assault in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after an aggravated assault in Moulden earlier today.

At around 6am, Police received reports that a man had unlawfully entered a business on Moulden Terrace and allegedly assaulted a woman with an edged weapon. The offender then fled the scene.

The 47-year-old woman was conveyed to Palmerston Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives from Serious Crime have since arrested a 27-year-old man who is expected to be charged later today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said, "This was a violent attack on an unsuspecting victim going about her work.

"It was very lucky this woman wasn't more seriously injured; this was absolutely disgraceful behaviour."
