Police make arrest - Attempted Sexual Assault in Katherine

Detectives from the Northern Investigations Section have arrested a 30-year-old male in relation to an alleged attempted sexual assault which occurred in Katherine at about 2:30am on the morning of 12 July 2019.

Police will allege the offender attempted to sexually assault a male tourist who was sleeping in his vehicle in a car park on the intersection of Railway Terrace and Victoria Highway.

Detectives undertook an extensive investigation resulting in the offender being located and arrested at a remote Northern Territory community.

The male has been charged with Attempt Sexual Intercourse without Consent and Gross Indecency and has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 17 October.
