Police Make Arrest - Domestic Violence In Katherine 3 July

NT Police have arrested a 23-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred in Katherine on Tuesday evening.

Around 6:30pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a male assaulting a female near the Katherine Oasis Taxi rank.

It is alleged the male assaulted his female partner on two occasions before members of the public intervened. He then became aggressive towards those individuals before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police and St John Ambulance attended, and the female victim was conveyed to Katherine Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries for assessment.

The alleged offender was later located by police hiding in the garden of a family member's residence in Katherine North.

He was arrested and has since been charged with Aggravated assault and Recklessly endanger serious harm and will face court 7 July 2025.

Superintendent Warren Scott said, "I want to commend the brave actions of the public who intervened and provided a detailed description of the male.

"It is because of their quick actions that the victim received the help she needed, and police were able to quickly locate the offender.
