Police make arrest - Domestic violence in Darwin 12 September

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in relation to a series of domestic violence incidents against his partner.

Members from Strike Force Lyra received information of the alleged abuse taking place and started an investigation last week.

On Friday evening, the man was arrested by the Dog Operations Unit. He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault x 5
  • Unlawful entry
  • Damage to property
  • Breach of bail

The man will appear before Darwin Local Court today.

Sergeant Caragh Hen said: "What the victim is alleged to have endured is appalling. Victims of domestic violence should never feel like they're in this alone and this woman's courage to come forward is admirable. Domestic violence will not be tolerated in our community.

"If you or anyone you know is experiencing domestic or family violence, please reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000. You can also anonymously report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
