Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to assaulting members of the police at Tennant Creek last Friday.

At 8:40pm, police responded to a general disturbance at a residence on Ford Crescent.

Police identified a 36-year-old man in breach of his bail conditions. During his arrest, the man allegedly spat in the face of one member and kicked another in the face.

Both members were treated for minor injuries.

The man was conveyed to Tennant Creek Watch House and charged with breach of bail and assault police. He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

Superintendent Mark Grieve said "Assaults on our members are completely reprehensible and will not be tolerated.

"Our members are on the frontline everyday serving and protecting the Northern Territory community, they don't deserve to be assaulted for it.

"This man can now face court for his actions.

"Police are urging the community to report any anti-social or criminal behaviour on 131 444 or in an emergency to contact Triple Zero."
