Police make arrests after two aggravated burglaries in Footscray

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two men following two alleged aggravated burglaries in Footscray this morning.

It is alleged two apartments, side by side, were broken into on Eleanor Street on Thursday, 27 October about 4am.

Investigators were told two vehicles were allegedly stolen along with laptops, artwork and jewellery.

A 59-year-old man was located inside one of the alleged stolen vehicles on Old Geelong Road, West Footscray and was arrested.

The Footscray man was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft and handle stolen goods. He was also charged in relation to a series of alleged aggravated burglaries in Footscray and Sunshine last month.

The second allegedly stolen vehicle was located abandoned outside a house on Eleanor Street.

A 43-year-old man was arrested at a house on Eleanor Street and the other allegedly stolen items were located at the premises.

The Rockbank man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft and handle stolen goods.

The pair were directly presented to Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
