Police make arrests - Disturbance - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have responded to a disturbance in Palmerston CBD yesterday afternoon arresting four female youths.

The alleged criminal and anti-social behaviour affected several businesses in Palmerston and the library and included an alleged assault of a security guard and breaking windows.

The four female youths, three aged 14 and one aged 13, will be considered for youth diversion for the offences of:

  • assault worker
  • damage to property
  • going armed in public

Investigations are continuing into the disturbance and anyone with information should contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9242431.

Commander Matt Hollamby said the behaviour of the group was distressing and unacceptable.

"The conduct of this group clearly affected the amenity of the community" said Commander Hollamby.

"Businesses and their customers should not be subjected to the criminal behaviour exhibited by this group.

"Police have increased patrols in the area and will maintain a presence to reassure the public that their daily activities will not be affected by behaviour witnessed yesterday.

"These youths are being considered for diversion and NT Police will work with the NT Government agencies to try to ensure there is not a repeat of yesterday's incident."
